North Rhine-Westphalia honors foreign investors

NRW.INVEST and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia present the NRW.INVEST AWARDS for the eighth time.

The awards presented on June 25, 2012 honors bold and innovative investments by foreign companies in the Rhine and Ruhr regions in the categories "New Investment", "Expansion Investment" and "Innovation".

The NRW.INVEST AWARD 2012 in the "New Investment" category went to the French firm GYS GmbH, which invested 3.5 million euros in its new Aachen-based company headquarters in order to increase its administration and logistics capacities. The "Expansion Investment" award was presented to 3M in Neuss and Kleine Logistik in Grevenbroich. The prize-winning duo jointly expanded the European distribution center of the American company 3M in Jüchen to the tune of 25 million euros. In the "Innovation" category the award went to the Japanese company XTREME technologies GmbH which produces light sources for extreme ultraviolet light.

"Foreign companies are crucial to the competitiveness of North Rhine-Westphalia. They bring us new ideas, new products, new techniques and new working methods. This creates innovation and growth. We are honoring this achievement with the NRW.INVEST AWARD," emphasized Garrelt Duin, Minister for Economic Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia at the awards ceremony.
