North Rhine-Westphalia is the first choice for foreign investors in Germany

In 2011 NRW.INVEST successfully assisted 140 companies with location projects or expansion investments.

Last year, a total of 234 foreign investment projects came to North Rhine-Westphalia. More than half of them were located with the support of NRW.INVEST, which was 30 more than in 2010. The state economic development agency has succeeded in nearly doubling the number of foreign investment projects since 2006. In total, the companies located in 2011 have created around 2,700 new jobs in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The USA remained one of the most important investor countries in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2011, with American investment projects supported by NRW.INVEST creating 1,500 new jobs. In terms of the number of investment projects, China heads the list for 2011: 53 Chinese enterprises located in North Rhine-Westphalia with the support of NRW.INVEST, creating around 400 new jobs. Central and eastern Europe, Russia and Turkey are further important regions and nations for investors. A total of 36 companies from these countries located in the Rhine & Ruhr state in 2011. Of these, NRW.INVEST assisted 30 firms with plans to create around 160 new jobs.
